Oval-shaped faces are often considered the “perfect” face shape, because they showcase balanced proportions and symmetry. Most people, however, are not naturally born with perfectly oval-shaped faces. Small changes in makeup and hairstyle can make your face look slimmer and more balanced. Pear-shaped faces are usually fuller in the jaw and narrower near the forehead, so creating the illusion of either a fuller upper face or a slimmer jaw, will help make such face look more oval.

Hair

Try side-swept bangs to bring the focus to the upper half of your face, and to make your forehead appear wider.

If you don’t like bangs, pushing your hair back at the forehead with a headband will expose your forehead and make it appear wider.

Avoid cuts that have excessive waves or curls, as this overall volume can accentuate the width of the jaw.

Consider styling your hair with more volume on top, to balance out the width of your jaw.

Tuck either one or both sides of your hair behind your ears, as this will create an illusion of slimmer cheekbones.

Makeup

Use bronzer at the jawline, to slim the jaw.

Use a blush on your cheeks that matches your skin tone, to bring attention to the upper half of your face and to your cheekbones.

Use a highlighting powder to highlight the middle of your face, such as the center of your forehead and the tip of your chin.

Highlight under the eyes and over the cheekbones to make your face appear more centered and oval.

Accentuate your eyes and downplay your lips and lower half of your face, to bring attention away from your jawline.
