Many's the time that a gift has been given with no instructions for return, that is, you won't get the gift receipt that many stores offer. Or maybe you bought something for yourself and you lost the receipt. In a high-end store such as Neiman Marcus, it's relatively easy to return items without receipts. As a high-end store with a reputation to uphold, Neiman Marcus attaches a lot of value to customer satisfaction.

Bringing the Item into a Store

Check if you or the person who gave you the gift used a credit card for the purchase. If you did, then call your credit card company with the phone number on the back of your credit card and request a copy of the receipt. If you did not pay with a credit card you can still return your item, but it will take a little more work.

Make sure that the item was purchased less than 60 days from the date on which you are returning it in order to receive a refund for the same amount as the purchase price.

Bring in the item to your nearest Neiman Marcus location. If you don't know where that is, you can check on the Neiman Marcus website.

If you have the receipt from your credit card company, it won't be a problem. If you don't, ask to speak to customer service. The customer service representative in the store will give you credit for Neiman Marcus if the item still has the labels attached.

Returning by Mail

Bring the item that you want to return into your local post office. Purchase a shipping box and label it Attn. Returns Department, 123 Customer Way, Irving, TX 75039.

Write your name, address, the reason that you are returning the item, and stipulation that you want credit for the store.

Mail it in and allow 10 to 14 days for the credit to be activated.
