Tips on Applying Eye Shadow for Round Eyes

By Nathaly Blalock

Most women with round eyes want to elongate their eyes to give the appearance of almond shaped eyes. There are many eye makeup techniques that can help you achieve this look. Properly applying eye shadow can make your eyes look their absolute best, no matter their shape. If you have round eyes, using these techniques will make your eyes appear more almond shaped and enhance your beauty.

Video of the Day

Begin by applying a light eye shadow to the entire eyelid. Then, use a darker eye shadow to shade the eyelid crease, the outer corner of the eye and the lower lid. This dark eye shadow can act as a liner to make your eyes stand out. Extend the shadow upward at the outer corner of your eye. This will bring more focus to the outer half of your eye and create an elongated, almond shape.

For extra impact, choose a shadow that suits your eye color. If you have blue eyes, brown shades will make your eyes pop. Brown eyed girls should stick to coppers, golds, or grays. If your eyes are green, try shades of brown or dark purple. Remember that lighter shades of each color will open and brighten your eyes, while darker shades will add shape. If you are trying to elongate your round eyes, apply darker shadow to the outer corners.

Finishing Touches

Don't forget to use liner and mascara to complete your look. Apply the liner the same way as the shadow, focusing on the outer corner of your eye. Women with round eyes should only apply mascara to their top lashes. Apply an extra coat or two to the outer edges to elongate your eyes. Wait for the first coat of mascara to dry before you add an extra coat. If your mascara gets clumpy, use an eyelash comb to brush through.
