Bohemian style combines an undone effortlessness with a little bit of wild-child splendor. A look rooted in the late-60s and early-70s, It Girls of the era like Anita Pallenberg, Jane Birkin and Marisa Berenson have come to define boho chic. If you are aching to embrace a bohemian face, look to these women for the makeup basics — a dewy complexion, nude lip and slightly smokey eyes.
Apply a moisturizing foundation to your entire face, focusing the product on any red areas. Work the foundation into your skin with a foundation brush until it sits smoothly and your skin looks even and slightly dewy. Apply concealer on any problem areas and blend with a concealer brush. Set the foundation and concealer with a mineral powder to keep the product in place. Use a large kabuki brush to get a light, even application.
Add a bit of a warm glow to your skin by applying a matte formula bronzer to the apples of your cheeks, around your temples and on your forehead and chin. Keep the application light by using a large, fluffy brush. The bronzer will act as a subtle blush and give you that warm, free-spirit glow. Apply a cream highlighter with a slight shimmer to your cheekbones using your ring finger for a healthy brightness on your skin.
Apply a nude shimmery eye shadow evenly across your eyelids with an eyeshadow brush; opt for a shadow with a very fine shimmer to avoid a glittery effect. Sweep a medium brown shadow across your entire lid up to the crease. Line the bottom lid with the same shadow and blend with a cotton swab to soften the line. Apply a coat of mascara to your top and bottom lashes, adding a second coat to the top outer lashes for a wide-eyed look. Finish off with a cream highlighter just underneath your brows and on the inner corner of each eye.
Since you have a strong eyes and a bronzed glow, keep your lips as simple as possible. Line them with a warm nude pencil, then fill in with light peach hue that contains a hint of shine, but is not overtly glossy. If you want to transform this look to a chic evening style, add a bit of golden shimmer lipgloss.
