Bread crumbs are often called for in dishes such as fried chicken, meatloaf and hamburger patties. Stuffing mix can be used to substitute bread crumbs, if there are not any bread or bread crumbs available. Since stuffing mix is made out of dry and baked bread pieces, recipes will come out tasting the same, if not better.

Select the style of stuffing mix that will be used to substitute the bread crumbs. Mixes are available plain or seasoned. Plain stuffing can be used if a specific seasoning is going to be added to the dish. Seasoned stuffing mix is best if a light seasoned flavor is desired.

Pour the stuffing mix into the blender. Depending on the size of the machine's pitcher, use a half or one full bag. Add any extra seasoning after the stuffing mix has been poured.

Cover the blender and pulse it by pressing the "Grind" or "Blend" button. This will crumble the stuffing mix. Blend the mix for 10 to 20 seconds for large crumbs, and up to 40 seconds for finer crumbs.

Pour the stuffing mix crumbs into a bowl. Pour another bag into the blender if more crumbs are desired, along with any seasoning, and repeat Step 3.
