How to Recook Pork to Tenderize It

A cooked pork roast or tenderloin can make more than one meal for a family. Pork is a versatile meat, found in cuisines around the world. Recooking the pork can result in flavorful, tender meat. Adding liquid is the secret to getting tender meat from a previously tough or over cooked piece of meat. Pulled pork sandwiches or pork stew will highlight the newly tenderized pork meat.

Roast pork can become flavorful pulled pork or pork stew.

Pulled Pork Sandwhiches

Step 1

Shred the pork. Using a fork, drag the tines across the grain of the pork until the entire roast is shredded.

Step 2

Add pork and enough sauce to cover to a medium pot or crock pot.

Step 3

Reheat on low for two hours, check for tenderness and cook for an additional two hours if desired.

Step 4

Add pork to the bottom half of a hamburger bun and top with veggies of your choice.

Pork Stew

Step 1

Slice the pork in small, bite-sized pieces.

Step 2

Add the pork to one quart of beef broth and a two pounds of vegetables including potatoes, carrots, onions and celery.

Step 3

Cook the stew for one to two hours, checking after one hour for pork tenderness.
