Cream of mushroom soup is a staple for many home cooks, because it offers so many more uses than just basic soup. Casseroles, roasts, stews and multiple side dishes all benefit from the rich flavor and velvety texture of cream of mushroom soup. You can use this soup to create a simple but flavorful gravy. Although most gravies require meat drippings, gravy made from mushroom soup does not require them.

Combine one can cream of mushroom soup, one packet beef gravy mix, and 1 1/4 cups Marsala wine in a medium saucepan.

Whisk the contents of the saucepan over medium heat until well-blended.

Simmer the gravy for 10 minutes, continuously whisking it as it cooks.

Mix in salt and pepper to taste before serving.
