Dreadlocks are made by back-combing and palm rolling small sections of hair. These tangled, ratted sections harden over time into tight dreads that cannot easily be washed or combed out. The first year of waiting for your dreads to tighten can be difficult, but you can speed the process along by creating a homemade locking accelerator spray. Natural sea salt and citric acid can go a long way toward helping you achieve the dreads of your dreams.
Things You'll Need
Fill a large drinking glass with hot water. Leave 1/2 inch of room at the top to add the other ingredients.
Cut a lemon in half with a sharp knife and squeeze the juice of the entire lemon into the glass.
Measure 2 tbsp. sea salt into the glass and stir the mixture until the salt is dissolved.
Pour the mixture into a spray bottle and screw the sprayer on tightly.
Spray your dreads with the locking spray after every wash.
