How to Make an Army Tank Birthday Cake

By Kelly Sundstrom

If your child enjoys playing with army men and tanks, you can throw him an army-themed birthday party. You can make the birthday party more on-theme by creating a whimsical cake designed to look like an army tank. You can do this by arranging basic food materials in a certain way to make the cake resemble a tank. You can even insert plastic army figurines into the cake as an added decoration.

Step 2

Spray a square and round cake pan with cooking spray. Pour in the cake mix evenly between them.

Step 3

Bake the cake pans in a 375-degree-Fahrenheit oven for 20 minutes. Allow the pans to cool.

Step 4

Place the square cake onto a cake tray.

Step 5

Ice the cake with green icing.

Step 6

Place the round cake on top of the square cake, and ice it with the green icing.

Step 7

Place a row of 15 to 20 Tootsie Rolls horizontally along either side of the cake. These will represent the treads on a tank.

Step 8

Insert a large pretzel stick into one end of the cake. This will represent the cannon on a tank.

Cover the pretzel with green icing.
