Women want long, luscious lashes, as they are a symbol of beauty and femininity. Long lashes accent the eyes and the darkness contrasts with the whites of the eyes, making them pop. There are expensive products available that claim to grow lashes. Mascara can work wonders, but after a night out you are often too tired to remove it, and this harsh makeup can damage the lash. Fake eyelashes can rip out the natural lash and also can be very damaging. Fortunately, there are several different home products you can use to create a lash-growing remedy.
Create an Applicator Stick
Rinse an old mascara applicator wand with soapy water until clean. You can then use the stick as an applicator for your home remedies. Clean it after every use to avoid bacteria.
Vaseline, almond oil, castor oil and olive oil can be used to lengthen lashes. Simply coat the applicator stick with one of these products and coat your lashes before bed. In the morning, rinse your face and lashes with warm water.
If these oils don't do the trick, there are a few additional things to try. Place a piece of lemon peel in a small jar of olive oil for five days to enhance the lengthening agents of the oil. Also, you can dip a cotton ball in green tea and smear it over the eyelashes. The tea will stimulate growth and help clean the follicles, allowing growth to occur.
Do not expect to see results until you have regularly tried one of these methods for about two to three months. It also is important to keep your lashes clean so the pores don't become clogged and inhibit growth.
Trim the very tips of the eyelashes to stimulate growth. Use cuticle scissors and a magnified mirror, or enlist the help of a friend, to ensure the best results. If you snip the very tip of the lash, it will not be noticeable but may stimulate the follicle to grow. It is often said that if you shave your legs or get a haircut, the hair grows back longer and thicker.
