Prepared cake mixes from the supermarket contain the same ingredients Easy-Bake Oven mixes do -- sugar, dried egg whites, flour and nonfat dry milk -- so you can use them interchangeably. The Easy-Bake Oven reaches about 350 degrees Fahrenheit in 10 minutes, and it has no problem baking regular mixes if you pour the batter into the provided pans or pans of a comparable size. Always supervise children when they use the oven; Hasbro, the manufacturer, recommends it for children 8 and older.
Batter Consistency and Height
Mix the batter according to the box's instructions and fill the pan no more than three-quarters full; regular mixes produce a little more rise than Easy-Bake mixes. You can use alternative pans, such as miniature loaf pans and miniature round tins, as long as they clear the heating element by 1/2 inch.
