Shampoo Less Frequently
Curly hair doesn’t require daily cleansing. Wash your hair every other day or a few times a week. A conditioning shampoo is a must for extremely dry tresses; to keep your curls hydrated, switch to sulfate-free products that won’t strip moisture. If your roots feel oily, touch them up with dry shampoo between washes.
Treat With a Mask
Conditioners made for curly hair are ideal for taming frizz and dryness. When your hair is dry to the point of brittleness, it’s time to treat your strands to a moisturizing mask. Most formulas should be left in for at least 15 minutes after shampooing. Accentuate the deep-moisture effects by leaving the product in your locks for an hour in a shower cap. Use up to two times per week.
Change Your Styling Habits
Ideally, your hair should be trimmed every six to eight weeks -- neglecting haircuts can quickly become problematic for curls. If your ends are frayed and dry, have your stylist trim a few inches for ultimate hair health. Also, lay off heated styling tools until your hair is restored back to normal.
