Whether you’re in your last trimester of pregnancy or you just spent all day on your feet, you may be looking for a solution to aching, sore feet at the end of the day. Soaking your feet is a relaxing activity that helps to calm your nerves and relax your feet.
Find a basin or another similar wide dish large enough for both of your feet to fit in comfortably. Fill the dish with warm tap water.
Add any items you wish to include to help relax your feet, such as baking powder, salt or aromatherapy tablets. Allow them to dissolve completely.
Test the temperature of the water with the tip of your elbow to make sure it’s not too hot. If the temperature is too warm or too cold, add more water from the tap at the appropriate temperature to compensate.
Lay a towel down on the floor to absorb any spills, and place the basin full of warm water on top.
Place your feet in the warm water, and let them sit for between five and 15 minutes. Soaking your feet for too long can dry them out.
Remove your feet from the warm water, and dry them with a towel. Apply moisturizing lotion to your feet in order to prevent them from drying out and cracking.
If you don't have a basin, fill your tub enough so that the water will cover your feet up to your ankles, then sit on the edge of the tub to soak your feet.
Talk to your doctor about soaking your feet if you have diabetes.
