Cold weather calls for warm cocktails… coupled with Netflix and fleece blankets, yes? We added a “wellness twist” to the classic cocktail, Hot Buttered Rum, by using ghee instead of butter. Ghee is a clarified butter incredibly rich in vitamins A and E, that is loaded with healthy fats (much like coconut oil) which can boost our digestive systems. It has a very minimal amount of lactose, compared to butter, which makes it great for those with dairy intolerances. This cocktail literally tastes like a pie in your mouth – so get ready! Here’s how it’s done:

Ingredients:
1/4 cup ghee
1/3 cup brown sugar
Pinch of ground nutmeg
Pinch of ground cloves
Pinch of sea salt
2 tbsp honey
1 cup water
2 oz rum
Cinnamon stick, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a small saucepan, add the ghee, dry ingredients (spices), and honey. Mix well over low heat.
  2. Add water and rum, continue to mix over low heat until combined – but be sure not to boil.
  3. Pour into your mug, garnish with a cinnamon stick, and ENJOY!
