It’s approaching that time of year again, where an abundance of ice cream consumption is both highly coveted and appropriate. We have five crazy-delicious¬†concoctions that will knock your socks off. Now, there are multiple frozen goodies that we experiment with; gelato versus ice cream versus vegan ice cream, for instance. What’s the difference? Let us educate you! Ice cream has a custard base of milk and cream, and is created with a high-volume churning method that incorporates air into the mixture, resulting in a smooth and creamy consistency. Gelato, on the other hand, uses more milk (instead of heavy cream), less egg yolks (if any at all), and has a slower churning method incorporating less air, resulting in a denser consistency. FYI: Gelato is lower in fat than ice cream. Vegan ice cream, like the one we made, can be made with frozen fruit (like bananas) and coconut milk. The truth is, we love it all! We’re topping them off with everything from freshly brewed espresso to balsamic vinegar, scotch and olive oil!
