Having natural hair can be very expressive and allows you to be versatile with your look. A wash-and-go, two-strand twists, flat twists and coils can be achieved with ease with two-inch hair length. These styles not only add flair, but also can protect your hair from daily styling.
This is a common style when there is limited time to do your hair. Simply wash and condition the hair, rinse and apply a leave-in conditioner. This style shows the curls in their natural state without manipulation. The leave-in can be finger-combed through the hair to achieve a fuller look. The hair should not be towel dried, as this would disrupt the curl pattern. Air drying is best for this style.
Two-Strand Twists and Twist-Outs
The twist is another popular style for women showcasing their natural hair. Similar to braiding, it involves one section of hair separated into two parts and then twisted around each other. Two-strand twists are simple to achieve and can last about one to two weeks depending on the size. For shorter hair, smaller twists will hold better.
The twist-out is achieved by taking two-strand twists down and not manipulating the hair. Depending on the size of the twist, the crinkle will be more or less defined. This style usually lasts two days.
At the two-inch length, it may or may not be possible to flat twist the entire head. However, a few flat twists in the front will make an afro look more glamorous. This style is achieved by making rows similar to cornrows then twisting the hair flat against the scalp. Twist it securely, but not too tight, and the style will be set.
Comb coils work best on shorter hair. These coils are achieved by using a rattail comb and rolling the hair around the tail of the comb to make a coil. This style requires a little more time to achieve than the previous styles. Coils can also be used as starter locs if one chooses to loc their hair later on.
