If you have acne, you should not touch or squeeze any or your eruptions. If you do, you can seriously damage the skin and cause scarring. White acne scars are common after picking or popping acne pimples. Thankfully, there are a variety of treatments you can employ to improve the appearance of white acne scars. With regular care, you can minimize white acne scars and even remove them altogether.

Wash the scarred area, using a hydroxy acid cleanser. Hydroxy acids aid in skin cell regeneration, helping new skin cells to more quickly replace scarred cells. In addition to cleansers, you can also find hydroxy acids in toners, lotions and creams.

Exfoliate your skin, using a facial or body scrub. With regular exfoliation, your skin can renew itself more readily. Surface skin cells are sloughed away to reveal fresher cells below. Exfoliate your scarred skin at least twice weekly to improve the appearance of the scars.

Get chemical peels. A skincare professional is needed for this: they will apply chemicals to the scarred area. The chemicals will react with your skin, effectively burning away the top layers. Though the area will be raw following the peel, it will look younger and less damaged after it heals. With repeated peels, you can minimize white acne scars.

Have microdermabrasion performed on your white acne scars. This intense exfoliation process involves a technician using a small device to buff away the top layers of your skin. After treatment, your skin will look younger and smoother, and your acne scars will be less noticeable.

Talk to your dermatologist about laser treatments. Laser light is effective for removing scars, including white acne scars. The light breaks up scar tissue and burns away the top layers of skin to reveal younger skin below. Oftentimes, a series of treatments are necessary to fully remove scars.

Rub your scars daily for about two minutes. Massage increases circulation, helping nutrients and blood reach the scarred area more easily. This aids the healing process.
