Instructions for Tying Head Scarves

By Amber Myrick

Tying a head scarf is an easy task to master. This fashion has been around for many years and is both practical and pleasing to the eye.

The Technique

Start with a large square scarf. Fold the corners of the scarf together so they form a triangle. Put the scarf over your entire head, making sure the 90-degree corner is facing the back of your head; this will look like a tail. Make sure the two longer corners hang on each side of your head.

Next tie the side corners behind your head making sure the long tail in the middle stays clear of the knot. Pull the corners quite tight so the scarf will not loosen.

Start with the right corner of the scarf and lift it from your shoulder to the top right side of your forehead and around to the back of your head. Then do the same with the left corner of the scarf. Tie both ends of the scarf together at the back of your neck.
