As you grow older your body produces less melanin, resulting in gray or white hair. While it’s expected for a 40-year-old to begin to find gray hair, some people start to gray earlier due to other factors, such as stress. If you want to treat your gray hair without the harsh effects of chemical dyes, try using natural remedies. Tea rinses, for example, boost shine by lowering the pH of the outer hair cuticle, keeping it the smooth.

Choose the appropriate tea for your hair color. If you have darker hair, look for black teas. If you have lighter, warmer-colored hair, try chamomile. Check the strength of the tea’s color by pouring a little onto a paper towel.
Boil tea leaves in water. Using loose tea leaves is ideal as they saturate the water with more color. However if you have tea bags, they will work as well. Let the tea leaves sit for up to 5 minutes. The longer the tea steeps, the darker the color will appear.
Strain the leaves and let the tea cool down to room temperature.
Add a teaspoon of salt to the tea and mix thoroughly.
Wet your hair until damp before applying the mixture.
Gently pour tea mixture over your hair and massage it into the roots. Leave the tea in your hair for 45 minutes.
Wash your hair with warm or cool water. Avoid shampooing afterward, as this will strip your hair of the new color. To detangle hair,use a moisturizing conditioner. Repeat this process once every 10 days.
