There is a lot of risk involved with using commercial hair dye. The chemicals are known to cause irritation in users. Conventional hair dyes can also dry out your hair by penetrating the hair shaft and damaging the hair follicle. For this reason, natural hair dyes such as those made with black tea are becoming more popular.

Brew some strong black tea. You may need to make a fairly large batch depending on how long your hair is. You can reuse the solution if you choose, but it's easier to make a larger batch and use a fresh pot of tea for each rinse.
Lean over the sink and begin to rinse your hair with the strong tea mixture. Get your entire head wet with the mixture.
Repeat this process 15 to 20 times, using fresh tea as needed.
Leave the final rinse on your hair for 15 minutes.
Rinse the tea out of your hair with warm water until the water runs clear.
Repeat weekly for optimal results.
To increase the effectiveness of the black tea, you can mix it with henna to darken the hair further.
Dyeing your hair this way is easier if you enlist the help of a friend or family member.
