Cupcakes baked inside of flat-bottomed ice cream cones are a popular treat for birthday parties or school functions. They are easy to make and children love them. They are, however, difficult to transport without the cones falling over and the icing becoming messed up. There are products on the market designed to hold the cones upright, but these can be expensive and they have only one purpose. You could, however, make your own transporting device for little to no money with items you probably have around the house.

Cereal Boxes

Use two full-sized, empty cereal boxes to make holders for two dozen cupcakes. Make sure you have removed the plastic lining bags.

Use the bottom of an ice cream cone to trace 12 circles on each box using a pencil. The circles should be just slightly larger than the bottom of the cone. You want two rows of six holes on each box. Use a knife to start the cut for the circles and scissors to finish it.

Insert the bottom of the cones into the holes. Because the holes are close to the size of the cones they will hold them upright.

Egg Cartons

Clean two empty Styrofoam egg cartons to make holders for two dozen cupcakes. The easiest way to do this is to wash them under running water using dish detergent. You want to make sure you thoroughly wash the entire carton since egg shells can carry salmonella. Leave the cartons to dry thoroughly before proceeding.

Turn the cartons upside down so that the tops of the cartons are down and the bottoms of the cartons are up. Use a knife to cut the egg-shaped domes off the bottom of the cartons.

Insert the bottom of the cones into the holes.

Shirt Boxes

Chose two shirt boxes that are two to two-and-a-half inches deep. These are the boxes that department stores wrap clothing in.

Use tape to seal the two halves of the boxes together.
