How to Remove Blackheads Using Olive Oil

By Cynthia Measom

Blackheads are unsightly dark-colored pores that usually occur in the T-zone area of the face or on the back and shoulders. They are essentially clogged pores that result from the over-production of sebum--a natural oily secretion that helps moisturize skin and makes it waterproof--combined with dead skin cells. The sebum and the dead skin cells harden inside of the skin pores and result in blackheads. Not only are they unattractive, but leaving blackheads untreated can lead to further skin issues, according to the U.S. Office of Women's Health. Fortunately, there is a simple home remedy to combat blackheads, and restore your skin to an unblemished state.

Step 1

Combine the plain yogurt, uncooked, plain oatmeal, lemon juice and olive oil in a small bowl.

Step 2

Whisk the ingredients together until well blended.

Step 3

Apply the paste to the affected areas, with clean hands. If desired, apply paste to entire face, after applying directly to affected areas.

Step 4

Allow to dry for approximately five to seven minutes.

Step 5

Rinse face with cold water and pat dry.
