For anyone who packed up their clothes from the 1980s and stuffed the box into the back of the closet, it’s time to open up that dusty old box. Off-the-should shirts, à la the movie “Flashdance,” are making a comeback. Thankfully, this trend is easy and inexpensive to recreate.

Things You'll Need

Turn the shirt inside-out.

Spread the shirt on a table or on the floor.

Make small marks with the pen to indicate where the neckline should fall.

Cut according to the marks.

Turn the shirt right side out and try it on. If you did not cut enough the first time, repeat steps 3 and 4.

  • Remember that cutting too little is never a problem because another cut can be made. But cutting too much can leave a person with a shirt that does not fit right.
