Making ice cream at home can be very fun for children and adults alike. The ingredients needed to make homemade ice cream are likely to be found in your home. Homemade ice cream can be made in as little as 15 minutes. Make it on a rainy day, a weekend or on a hot summer day.

Things You'll Need

Place ice cubes in the gallon bag. The bag should be halfway full. Pour in 6 tbsp. salt.

Add milk, vanilla, and sugar into the pint zip bag. Zip the bag up. Be sure that it’s secure.

Put the pint bag inside of the gallon bag. Seal the large bag. Be sure that the bag is securely sealed.

Shake and knead the bag until the mixture has become thick. This could take anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes.

Remove the pint bag from the gallon bag. Wipe the top of the bag with a cloth. Open the bag, pour the mixture into a bowl and enjoy.

  • Consider double-bagging the pint bag. This will help prevent contamination with the salt and ice mixture if there is a hole in the bag or if it is not sealed properly.
