Lip balm is used in both the summer and winter months to prevent the lips from becoming chapped. Lip balm can be made at home. It is just as effective as store bought lip balm. Vaseline and honey are two ingredients in a homemade lip balm that work to moisturize the lips and keep them feeling smooth.
Things You'll Need
Clean out some old lip gloss containers with soap and water, and rub them down with alcohol to sterilize them. Then rinse them out with water so that you aren’t tasting the alcohol when you use your new lip gloss.
Place your Vaseline and honey in a microwave-safe dish and microwave on high for 30 seconds.
Stir the two ingredients. If the ingredients are completely melted you can remove them from the microwave. Otherwise, put them back in for another 30 seconds.
Transfer the Vaseline and honey to the lip gloss container. Let the container sit on the counter until it hardens a little.
Place the lid back on the container and keep in your purse or medicine closet.
If you want to give your lip gloss some color, you can add cosmetic coloring to it. You can find this product at a beauty supply store.
Add three drops of peppermint oil to give your lip gloss a minty flavor.
