What’s oat milk and is it healthy?

Oat milk is a nut milk alternative to dairy milk that is made from steel-cut or whole groats that have been soaked in water, blended, and strained. Oats absorb water more easily than many other nuts, allowing oat milk to have a creamier, thicker, more full-bodied texture than other nut milks. It also gluten-free, vegan, high in fiber, and naturally sweet.

Green Smoothie Recipe

1 cup unsweetened oat (or other alternative) milk
1 cup frozen berries (blueberries, blackberries, raspberries)
1 cup baby spinach
1 cup chopped kale or chard
½ tsp. pure vanilla extract
4-6 ice cubes

Combine all ingredients in the Magic Bullet blender and process until smooth and creamy.

Wild Blueberry Banana Recipe

1 cup Planet Oat, extra creamy
1 cup vanilla whole milk yogurt
1 cup frozen wild blueberries
2 sliced and frozen bananas
1 tablespoon chia seeds

Place all ingredients in a high-speed blender like the Magic Bullet. Blend until smooth. Pour into two glasses. Serve.

Dark chocolate peanut butter smoothie

1 cup Planet Oat, dark chocolate
1 cup vanilla whole milk yogurt
2 sliced and frozen banana
2 Tbsps creamy peanut butter
1 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

Place Planet Oat, yogurt, bananas, peanut butter and cocoa in a high-speed blender. Blend until smooth. Top with sliced banana, chocolate granola and creamy peanut butter, if desired. Serve.

For a thicker smoothie, place the yogurt in the freezer for 30 minutes prior to blending.
