Broken capillaries on your face can be unattractive and cause you to become self-conscious. While the cause of broken capillaries can be a variety of issues, from genetics to too much sun exposure, getting rid of them can be tedious. There are many face creams on the market that promise to reduce the appearance of broken capillaries, and laser treatments performed by your dermatologist are another option.
Visit your dermatologist for an exam. Broken capillaries are most common around the nose and mouth, but may be found on others areas on the face. A dermatologist will be able to tell you exactly what's going on and how to treat the problem. Depending on how deep and long the capillaries are, you may need to undergo laser treatments that will stop the capillary from leaking blood and shrink the blood vessels to prevent future breaks.
Consider laser treatments. Depending on the severity of your broken capillaries, you may only need one laser treatment. These treatments typically last 15 to 20 minutes and are done in your dermatologist's office.
Ask your dermatologist about medications. If you don't want to undergo laser treatments, your dermatologist may be able to prescribe medication that can shrink blood vessels. Over-the-counter versions are available, but remember to follow all instructions on the packaging to avoid causing irritation to your face. You should notice a difference within 10 days or less after using medication or skin creams.
Natural remedies may also help heal broken capillaries and prevent future breakage. Mix chamomile or rose oil into your moisturizer or facial mask and apply it to your face. While these treatments may take longer, they will save you from having to make additional appointments with your dermatologist for laser treatments or use medications on your face.
Drink chamomile tea to help improve your body circulation. This may help reduce your chances of seeing more broken capillaries on your face. Using a topical cream that has vitamin C may also help prevent future breakage and help heal capillaries that are already broken.
Make sure to get plenty of rest and stay hydrated during the day to improve circulation in your body. Make sure your dermatologist has experience in treating patients with broken capillaries.
Never try more than one treatment at a time.
