Everyone knows that Jell-O™ is a fun jiggly food that comes in lots of bright colors. You also can use the powder in the little boxes to dye your hair those same fun colors.

How to Dye Your Hair with Jell-O

Set out all your materials and start with clean, dry hair. Apply the petrolleum jelly around your hairline and ears to prevent it from staining your skin.

Mix the Jell-O in the bowl with the hair conditioner. The consistency should be thick and creamy like mayonnaise.

Put the towel over your shoulders and secure it with a clothespin. The towel will be stained so use an old one to save for your next hair dyeing adventure.

Put on your gloves and use your fingers to put the dyed conditioner into your hair. For all-over color, slather your whole head and put on the shower cap. For streaks, saturate each section of your hair and wrap it in aluminum foil.

Leave the dye in for at least an hour. The longer it sets, the stronger the color will be.

Rinse well. Your color should last seven to 10 washes.

Tip

Dark hair will need to be bleached before it will take Jell-O dye.

Warning

Very light or bleached hair might hold on to color longer.
