Making cleaning solutions at home has increased in popularity over recent years. In addition to traditional cleaning supplies, many people are starting to make natural health and beauty products as well. Distilled white vinegar is a product that most households already own. It is already known as an effective cleaning agent, but can also be used to clean your hair. Distilled white vinegar cleans hair naturally by removing the residue left behind by other hair care products.

Open a spray bottle and add 1 cup of water and 1/2 tablespoon of distilled white vinegar. Place the lid on top of the spray bottle and shake it to mix the solution.

Wet your hair thoroughly with water and apply 1 teaspoon of shampoo to the palm of your hand.

Massage the shampoo into your hair and scalp with your fingers until suds form.

Rinse your hair with clean water to remove all traces of the shampoo.

Spray your hair with the vinegar and water solution. Make sure to spray the underside of your hair as well as the top of your hair and scalp.

Allow the solution to sit on your hair for 30 to 60 seconds and rinse out with clean water.

Dry and style your hair as desired.

Tip

Instead of rinsing the vinegar out of your hair, you can leave it in and dry as normal. You will notice a vinegar smell until your hair dries, but the smell dissipates quickly on dry hair.

Apply the vinegar rinse to your hair every other day. If your scalp starts to feel itchy, reduce the application to once or twice per week.
