Gold is used in several items, including jewelry, home fixtures and home accessories. Unfortunately, gold jewelry will become covered with dirt, grime and oils from the skin that will dull the appearance of the piece. Many people choose to take the gold piece to have it cleaned with several types of chemicals, including acids. Apple cider vinegar will allow anyone to clean their gold pieces at home safely and without the need for harsh chemicals. The gentle acids in the apple cider vinegar will remove any dirt and grime and the salt will act as a mild abrasive to help remove any difficult stains.

Fill a small bowl with 1 cup of apple cider vinegar.

Place the gold piece into the bowl and allow it to sit for 15 to 20 minutes, making sure that the gold piece is completely submerged in the vinegar.

Create a paste with 1/4 tbsp. table salt, 1/4 cup flour and 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar. Add more flour if needed to create a paste consistency.

Hold the gold piece over a bowl or towel and dip a soft toothbrush into the paste.

Scrub the gold piece with the toothbrush.

Rinse the gold piece in cool water.

Repeat cleaning the gold piece, if necessary.

Wipe away water on the piece with a lint-free cloth.
