Pancakes are quick and simple to make, using ingredients likely found in your kitchen. If you are short on time, however, or are missing a vital ingredient such as flour or eggs, a ready made pancake mix can make the process even easier. Whether you favor a homemade pancake mix or a store-bought version, adding sugar to the mix will make the pancakes sweeter. Vanilla and fruit also can be added for extra flavor.
Homemade Pancake Mix
Add 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, 2 tsp. baking powder, 1/2 tsp. baking soda and 1/2 tsp. salt in a bowl. Mix them together to form the base for your pancake mix.
Measure 2 tbsp. of sugar out of the packet.
Add the sugar to the bowl and mix well.
Continue following your pancake recipe.
Store-Bought Pancake Mix
Put your pancake mix in a bowl.
Add 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
Follow the directions on the pancake mix packet to continue making your pancakes.
Tip
For additional flavor, add 1 tsp. vanilla when you add milk, eggs and vegetable oil to your pancake mix.
Sprinkle your fruit, such as mixed berries, on top of your pancake mix just after you have poured it into your hot frying pan.
Add a sprinkle of sugar and a squeeze of lemon juice to your finished pancakes for additional flavor.
