Olive oil isn't just for cooking. It also smooths frizzy hair and gives tresses a luxurious, healthy shine. As with many beauty products, a little bit of olive oil goes a long way -- more isn't necessarily better. Too much of any oil makes your hair look greasy and dirty. Oil stubbornly repels water and clings to your hair like a magnet to metal. Cut through the grease slick and save your smothered strands with a few oil-fighting products.
Rinse oily hair with 1/4 cup apple-cider vinegar or lemon juice. Let the vinegar or lemon juice set for 10 minutes.
Get into the shower and rinse your hair with lukewarm water. Lather a few drops of liquid dish soap between your hands. Alternatively, squirt some shampoo into the palm of your hand, then mix the shampoo with 1 tablespoon of Epsom salts.
Massage the dish soap or shampoo through your hair from the roots to the tips. Rinse your hair under the running water.
Dry your hair, then dab any remaining greasy spots with an oil-blotting sheet. Alternatively, sprinkle some dry shampoo over your hair. Comb the shampoo through, then rub it in with a towel to absorb leftover oil.
