The Vicks Ultrasonic Humidifier is easy to use and care for. The cool mist humidifier is often used to relieve the symptoms associated with the cold and flu but has the added benefit of a scented pad heater in order to allow the active ingredients in the Vicks Vapo formula to permeate the room as well.

Setting up the Humidifier

Start by taking your Vicks Ultrasonic Humidifier out of the box and inspecting it for damage. Pay special attention to the water reservoir, checking for cracks, and to the cord itself. Do not use the humidifier if you see damage to any part.

Your humidifier should be kept on a flat surface and should be located in a place where no one will trip on the wire. Place the humidifier away from walls and furniture but close enough so that you can plug it in without using an extension cord. Make sure the humidifier is placed so that the directional mist nozzle is not pointing directly at your walls, furniture, or at any person who might be using the humidifier.

Operating the Humidifier

The humidifier should be unplugged whenever it is not in use. When preparing to use the humidifier, check to see that it is still unplugged and that the power knob is in the "Off" position. Remove the water tank, fill it with cool tap water, and place the tank back on the base. Inspect the rest of your humidifier, including the base and nebulizer, to make sure it is clean and free of dust. Make sure your hands are dry before plugging the humidifier in and turning the power knob to the "On" position.

Scent Pads

The Vicks Ultrasonic Humidifier was created with a scent pad heating mechanism in order to allow you to add scented pads to increase the relief of your symptoms. After removing the water tank from the base you will find the scent pad slot underneath the place where the water tank sits. Carefully place a scent pad into the slot before replacing the water tank and turning the humidifier on. The pad will heat and continue to provide additional comfort for up to 8 hours. Do not to let the scent pad touch your hands. If you do touch the scent pad, wash your hands immediately after contact. Use caution when removing the scent pad from the heater. The scent pad heater will always be active if the humidifier is turned on and this area can become warm.

Condensation

Make sure the humidifier is in a room that will not be completely closed. Because of the added moisture the humidifier will create you may see condensation build up on the walls, windows, or furniture. To avoid this you should leave the door to the room where the humidifier is located open. If you still notice condensation later you should use the power knob to lower the intensity of the mist.

Daily Humidifier Maintenance

Never let the humidifier sit with water inside it. Always remove the water tank, empty any excess water, and allow the tank to dry completely. Pull the old scent pad out of the scent slot and throw it away.
