It has detoxifying properties that effectively absorb impurities. Many skin care recipes call for the use of bentonite clay. The quality of clay can be determined by its color. The clay used in recipes should have a grey or cream color. White-looking clay may not be as effective when used for treatments.
Soothe
Mix 3 parts bentonite clay, 2 tsp. apple cider vinegar and 1 tsp. raw honey together. Apply mixture under eyes and let dry for 20 minutes. Rinse under-eye area thoroughly with warm water.
Renew
Blend 3 parts bentonite clay, 3 tsp. apple cider vinegar, 2 tsp. distilled water and 8 drops chamomile essential oil. Apply the blend under eyes and leave on for 15 minutes. Rinse well with warm water.
Revitalize
Thoroughly mix 1 oz. bentonite clay, 3 tbsp. orange flower water, 1 tsp. glycerin, 1 drop Neroli essential oil, 2 drops orange essential oil and 2 drops Petitgrain essential oil. Apply the mixture directly to dark circles and leave on for 30 minutes. Let the application dry and then rinse with warm water.
Considerations
There are small trace elements of aluminum in bentonite. It is not advisable to use these mixtures on skin if you have aluminum allergies.
