Coffee urns allow you to make coffee for a crowd when you're entertaining. Ranging in size from 20 to 100 cup capacities, these coffee makers will keep coffee hot and ready to drink for several hours after the brew cycle is complete. This frees up the host to take care of other duties besides making coffee. Most coffee urns on the market today use the percolation method of making coffee instead of the more popular drip method used by smaller pots.
Remove the lid of the coffee urn. Lift out the coffee basket and stem.
Fill the urn with water to the 20-cup level marked on the inside of the pot.
Place the stem and the coffee basket back into the pot.

Scoop 18 to 21 heaping tablespoons of ground coffee into the basket. Gently shake the basket to level the coffee.
Place the lid on the coffee urn. Plug the electric cord into an outlet and turn the machine on.
Always rinse the coffee basket before adding the coffee. This helps prevent coffee grounds from sticking to the basket.
It is best to use a coarser "percolator" grind when using a coffee urn.
Wash your urn thoroughly, inside and out, before its first use to get rid of any dust that might have accumulated during packing and unpacking.
