Though toners are sometimes considered outdated or unnecessary, they’re an important part of any skincare routine. Toners help restore the skin’s pH balance, remove traces of dirt and makeup, and improve the performance of serums and moisturizers. Choose a toner formulated for your skin type, whether it’s dry, oily or sensitive; use it after washing and drying your face and before additional skincare products.
Pour a small amount of toner on a cotton ball or disc and gently wipe it over your face. Never tug or pull at your skin, and avoid the sensitive eye area. The Gloss recommends using toner only at night to being with; if you don’t experience an adverse skin reaction, add it to your morning routine as well. After applying toner, give your face a few moments to dry before using your moisturizer or other treatment products.
