It's really common for people to invest in entire skincare lines full of amazing cleansers, toners, serums and moisturizers - but totally overlook the importance of sunscreen. The ingredients in your sunscreen matter. A LOT. They are sitting on your skin for just as long as anything else, and are often the cause of unidentified breakouts, inflammation and shine. More importantly, you should be wearing sunscreen every single day. It's what will protect you against environmental pollutants, sun spots, hyper pigmentation, WRINKLES! It is not to be overlooked. So without further ado, here are 8 of my favorite sunscreens that protect your skin, nourish it and make it ~glow~, take a look:

Avène Complexion Correcting Shield SPF 50

Avène is known for their thermal spring water, which is a hydrating mineral-rich water formula that reduces redness and boosts hydration. This mineral sunscreen is formulated using their thermal water, providing 24-hour hydration and antioxidant protection too! It's tinted, so it provides a decent amount of coverage that reduces redness and uneven skin tone. The coverage is enough that unless you have a blemish, you don't really need additional foundation or concealer. I've worn this throughout the whole work day and come home pleasantly surprised with my complexion (and no sunburn!). Tip: Make sure you apply a really good moisturizer beforehand, the tint can definitely get "stuck" in dry patches. (Dermstore, $36)

Supergoop! Everyday Sunscreen SPF 50 & Setting Mist

This is the perfect sunscreen to use when you're anticipating a full beach day. It's water resistant and oil-free, so it doesn't leave your skin greasy-looking. It also smells great because of the natural extracts of citrus, basil and rose. The setting mist is one of my favorite products right now because it's mini (fits in my purse easily) and has a matte finish. You can spritz it after makeup or throughout your beach day to ensure optimal protection. It also smells like rosemary and mint! (Everyday Sunscreen: Anthropologie, $19, Setting Mist: Anthropologie, $12)

Sonya Dakar Daily Shield SPF 30

This barely-there sunscreen feels like an ultra lightweight moisturizer. No sunscreen smell. No sunscreen shine. No residue. It's formulated with aloe and vitamin C, so you're getting real anti-aging benefits as well. Sonya's entire line is paraben and phthalate-free, which is a really nice benefit when looking for any skincare regime, especially sunscreen. It easily layers under makeup, and is probably one of my favorites when I'm reaching for something during the work week. (Sonya Dakar, $45)

Coola Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 & Makeup Setting Spray

This mineral sunscreen is my go-to weekend "no makeup makeup" look. My skin is definitely on the oiler side so I love the fact that this has a matte finish. It contains zinc oxide (which is a great SPF ingredient) and primrose oil which gives it a silky smooth feeling. Plus, it's water resistant up to 40 minutes, which is perfect for a swim day or workout session. The setting spray is a newer product that is also SPF 30, it's meant for post-makeup and mid-day protection. It also has hyaluronic acid in it which keeps hydration in full-force, but not oily, all day long. (Mineral Susncreen: Dermstore, $36, Setting Spray: Sephora, $36)

Josh Rosebrook Tinted Nutrient Day Cream SPF 30

I am a huge fan of Josh Rosebrook's products (see this Instagram post), his entire line contains powerful combinations of active herbal extracts and plant oils that repair and protect skin through an incredible amount of minerals, vitamins and antioxidants. This cream smells amazing, probably due to the hemp, borage and sea buckthorn oils that it's full of. But don't worry: these oils will not break you out. This cream actually helps clear acne and promote a clear complexion. The tint is really subtle, much more-so than the Avène or Coola. All in all, you feel luxurious just putting this on! (Detox Market, $95)

Glossier Invisible Shield SPF 35

Glossier can do no wrong in my book, and when their Invisible Shield came out I knew it was going to be gooood. And it is. It actually feels like a serum because of it's watergel formula. It's seriously lightweight (hence the name) and leaves zero cast on the skin, or opportunity for pilling. If you're in need of an everyday (all year long), hydrating sunscreen underneath your makeup, this is a top option. (Glossier, $35)
