Electric hair clippers are available in both consumer and professional grades. While the durability and available accessories differ between models, all electric clippers offer various guards that attach to the clippers. The guards determine the length to which the hair is cut. Both left and right ear taper guards are available options on electric hair clippers. These guards make navigating around the ear with an even taper easier for non-professional hair stylists. The right and left ear taper guards have shorter width and length of the guard on the ear side and taper to a longer length as the guard angels up towards the crown of the head.
Attach the right ear clipper guard to the electric hair clipper.
Starting behind the right ear and at the start of the hair line, arch the clipper up and over the ear and towards the side burn. For thick hair, additional passes with the clipper may be required.
Repeat on the left side.
