Hershey’s Kisses, with their brightly colored foils and iconic white paper plumes, are immediately identifiable to most Americans. They have been a treat since 1907, when they were first manufactured. Incorporate the sweetness of Hershey’s Kisses into your next party by using them in a chocolate fountain. With the addition of a little oil, these chocolates melt smoothly. Your guests will have fun dipping strawberries, pretzels and marshmallows into delicious streams of melted Hershey’s Kisses.

Unwrap each Hershey’s Kiss from the five pound bag and discard the foil.
Place the unwrapped Hershey’s Kisses into a one-gallon size microwaveable zip-close bag.
Add ½ cup of vegetable oil to the bag.
Zip the bag until it is almost closed, leaving 1 inch open for ventilation.
Place the bag upright on a microwave-safe plate inside the microwave. Cook the chocolate and oil for three minutes on medium power.
Remove the bag from the microwave while wearing oven mitts. Combine and smooth out the chocolate and oil by slowly and carefully squeezing the bag until the contents are thoroughly mixed. Wear the oven mitts while handling the bag.
Preheat the chocolate fountain for three to five minutes at 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
Return the bag to the microwave and place it on the plate again. Microwave the contents for an additional one to three minutes on low power.
Remove the bag from the microwave while wearing oven mitts and squeeze the bag a few more times.
Unzip the plastic bag completely. Pour the melted chocolate into the preheated chocolate fountain. Continue to wear the oven mitts during this step if the bag is uncomfortably hot.
A typical chocolate fountain designed for home use should serve up to 25 people.
It is possible to melt chocolate directly in a chocolate fountain, but it is time consuming. The microwave method is much faster and ensures evenly melted chocolate that flows smoothly from the fountain.
