Pores, tiny openings in your skin, can sometimes become blocked by dirt, oil, bacteria or a combination of these factors. Clogged pores under the arms can become enlarged and sore. If you have a painful clogged pore in your armpit area, there are ways to remedy the problem. Your first line of action lies in using natural techniques that you can perform right at home.

Wash your underarm area gently with a mild soap and warm water to open up clogged pores.

Soaking in a warm bath for 15 to 30 minutes can also unclog the pores. Immerse your armpit in the water. The warmth of the water can help to soften the clogged pores and relieve some of the soreness.

Standing in a hot shower for 15 to 20 minutes is another way to unclog the pores. The long time in the shower allows the steam to reach and unclog the pores. You can even sit or stand in a room with the shower running to get the benefits of the steam.

Apply warm compresses to the area during the day to unclog the pores. You can also use a heating pad set on a low setting for approximately 10 minutes at a time. The heat can help the clog to loosen, and it can increase blood flow, which aids in healing.

Refrain from shaving and using deodorant. Your razor can irritate the area and even introduce bacteria, which can potentially cause an infection in the clogged pores. Deodorants can be irritating to clogged pores.

Warning

Visit your doctor if you have a lump under your arm that does not go away in a few days. Lumps in this area can indicate infection or disease.
