Brown sugar, honey, syrup and even cookies have a habit of hardening despite storage in airtight containers. Here are some tricks to soften them up.
Things You'll Need
Place brown sugar in an airtight container with one or two slices of bread. Leave overnight.
Microwave brown sugar or honey in an open container. Cover with a damp paper towel and turn on high. Turn or stir well every 30 seconds until the sugar or honey has softened.
Place the container of crystallized honey or syrup in a small pan of simmering water. Heat until smooth.
Seal hard cookies in an airtight container with apple wedges or bread slices. Set aside for one or two days.
Sugars may harden again, but the softening process can be repeated as many times as needed.
