A few different methods are available for removing an ultraviolet marker stain from fingernails. When ink settles into nails, soap and water do not always wash away the spots. However, common household items can eliminate the stains an ultraviolet marker has left behind. Remedies include toothpaste, hairspray, sunscreen and nail polish remover.
Squeeze non-gel toothpaste on the fingernail. Rub the toothpaste into the fingernail with a wash cloth. Wait a two to three minutes, then rinse with warm water.
Apply hand sanitizer gel to the fingernail. Massage the gel into the nail. Rinse with warm water. Repeat until the ultraviolet marker stain is gone.
Apply hairspray, a sunscreen spray or insect repellent to the stain. Allow the spray to soak in for two to three minutes. Wipe the nail with a damp cloth.
Dip a cotton ball in nail polish remover or rubbing alcohol. Apply the cotton ball to the ink-stained nail and rub. Reapply until the stain has disappeared.
