Serious forms of acne can leave behind scars and red marks. The scars can either be inverted in the skin in round, square or divot shapes, or can appear as raised bumps on the skin. Most treatments for acne scars are done by a dermatologist. In order to get rid of the scars, you must take special care of your skin and have medical procedures done. By removing the scars, you can have clear and smooth skin.
Things You'll Need
Clean your skin with acne medicated face wash daily. It is best to dampen your face with warm water, rub the face wash on the affected area with a light scrub, and then rinse it off with warm water. It is important to have no active acne on the area before doing scar removal treatment.
Apply an acne scar lotion to your face every night before you go to sleep. The acne lotion may help reduce or remove acne scars on your face or other areas.
Get a chemical peel once every couple of weeks. Chemical peels are usually done by a doctor. A chemical peel procedure consists of placing the chemical peel on your skin for 10 to 30 minutes, causing the top layers of your skin, along with scars, to be removed.
Get a surgical or laser treatment on your skin if the chemical peels do not remove the scars. Surgical and laser treatments are harder on the skin and may have more side effects.
Avoid being in the direct sunlight and wear sunscreen. The sunlight can counteract the chemicals used in the treatments and face wash, causing your skin to become burnt easily.
