Wash face with warm water and your usual soap or facial cleanser. Pat gently dry.

Pour some hot water into a non-metal bowl. Add baking soda until you can make a thick paste. The ratio will be about 1/2 and 1/2. So, if you use 1 cup of hot water, you will use about 1 cup of baking soda.

Gently rub the thick paste onto your face. Baking soda is wonderful for drying up oily skin. To treat blackheads, scrub gently with the baking soda by rubbing it on your face. This will help exfoliate, but be careful not to rub too hard.

Rinse face thoroughly with warm water after about ten minutes. When your face is clean, rinse with very cold water. The cold water will close your pores and help prevent dirt from getting in them as you go about your day.

  • This treatment can be done as often as once in the morning or once at night. Baking soda paste is not sticky, so work over your bowl in case some falls off of your face.
