As you wear your moccasins, a soft leather shoe or slipper, they will become dirty. If only a few spots are dirty or stained, spot treat the shoes. If the entire shoe could use a good cleaning, clean the entire surface. Because leather is a porous material, do not wash the shoes in the washing machine. The water can damage the leather, as well as cause the shoe to lose its shape. Hand-washing is recommended for both spot and all over cleaning.

Spot Cleaning

Brush the moccasins with a leather or soft-bristled cleaning brush to remove dirt and dust.

Add a drop of a mild, liquid laundry detergent to a soft cloth. Rub the cloth into the spot or stain in a circular motion.

Rinse the cloth under cool running water until all soap residue is removed. Dab at the spot with the dampened, soap-free cloth to remove soap residue from the moccasins. Repeat as needed until the spot or stain is removed.

Allow the shoes to air dry.

Entire Shoe Cleaning

Brush the moccasins with a leather or soft-bristled cleaning brush to remove dirt and dust.

Apply a half-dollar sized amount of foaming leather cleaner or saddle soap to a soft cloth. Rub the soap into the moccasins in a circular motion. Use a cloth to blot away excess foam. Apply more cleaner or soap as needed. Continue until the entire surface has been cleaned.

Blot the leather cleaner or saddle soap with a clean, soft cloth. If the soap is not dissolving or has dried on the shoe, slightly dampen the cloth with water and continue the process.

Rub a thin, even layer of a leather conditioning product into the moccasins, using a soft cloth to keep the leather soft.
