How to Remove a Squeak From Pleather

By LeafTV Editor

Pleather, an artificial, man-made leather, is used to make purses, shoes, jackets, car seat covers and couches. As the pleather item is worn or used, it may squeak. Although this is not harmful to the fabric, it can be annoying. Moisturizing the pleather can help reduce or eliminate the squeaking.

How To Remove A Squeak From Pleather

Dip a soft cloth into a leather conditioner which specifies it's safe to use on pleather or imitation leather.

Rub the soft cloth into the pleather to work the conditioner into the material. Coat the entire surface in a thin, even layer of conditioner.

Allow the pleather to air dry. Repeat as needed until the pleather feels softened or no longer squeaks when worn. This may take several initial coatings and will have to be repeated routinely, especially in dry, hot climates.
