Puffiness around the eyes may be seasonal, the result of stress or due to interrupted sleep. While you can't always sleep away the puffiness, you can work to resolve the appearance of puffiness as whatever the cause, puffiness makes you look tired and old. Work on resolving the cause and use a few tips and tricks to minimize your eye puffiness, making you appear younger and well-rested.
Shrink the swelling. Use a cold compress, cucumber slices or cold tea bags to minimize puffiness. Lie down with your feet raised and place a cool cloth, slice or tea bag under your eyes for 15 minutes.
Get more sleep. Sleeplessness is a cause of eye puffiness. Get a good night's sleep and wake up not only refreshed, but also with less puffiness under your eyes.
Raise your head. The position in which you sleep may cause eye puffiness. Put a more supportive pillow under your head and see if this helps reduce puffiness.
Drink at least 8 glasses of water each day. Eye puffiness may be the result of dehydration. If the flavor of water bores you, consider sprucing it up with a twist of lemon or lime.
Minimize allergens. If you suffer from seasonal allergies, treat them promptly to avoid eye puffiness. Add an air purifier to your bedroom, take allergy medication and use dust mite-proof bedding to help with symptoms.
