The secret to this grilled chicken recipe is in the marinade (as in all of the best recipes) and can be cooked on a grill or in the oven. Some people refer to oven grilled chicken as baked chicken, but it tastes just as good as if you grilled it. So if it is raining or you don't have access to the grill, just follow the same steps and pop it in the oven.

Step 1

Decide what time of chicken you want to use. You can use chicken breasts, wings, legs, thighs- anything you want. Also decide if you want to keep the skin off or on the chicken before you marinate it. Preheat oven to 375 degrees if you will be using the oven.

Step 2

Put the chicken pieces in a big round bowl. Then sprinkle salt, black pepper, onion salt, garlic salt and turn the chicken over as you do this so both sides are lightly sprinkled.

Step 3

Pour Teriyaki sauce over the chicken (you can use the no salt-added sauce if you wish-however do not use soy sauce (it is not the same taste)). Then squeeze tomato ketchup on the chicken (Heinz will give you the best taste). Then add some hot red pepper sauce, don't overdo it if you don't like spicy food. However, a little bit of the red pepper sauce will not make the chicken hot!

Step 4

Mix all of the ingredients together over the chicken and make sure that every piece of chicken is coated well. It doesn't have to be a thick coating. You can either choose to let the chicken marinate for an hour in the fridge or you can put it straight on the grill or in the oven.

Step 5

Halfway through cooking the chicken, turn it over and baste the other side with the residue if the marinade that is left in the bowl. When it is done, eat the best ever grilled chicken with rice or potato salad.
