Although you can go to the store and buy shampoo for any hair need, it can be fun to make your own at home. Maybe you have tried all the different shampoos in the stores and you are just not satisfied, or you want a shampoo with only all-natural ingredients. Understand that homemade shampoos will not lather up as much as the commercial ones because you are not adding any sudsing agents. But rest assured, they will clean as well as the store-bought variety.

Things You'll Need

Rosemary/Sage Herbal Shampoo

Assemble the following ingredients:

4 oz Castile soap
1/2 oz. rosemary
1/2 oz. sage
1/2 oz. nettles
Couple drops lavender oil

Mix the herbs in a jar and seal it tightly, including the lavender. Rosemary helps prevent premature balding, sage acts as an antioxidant, nettles promotes hair growth and lavender helps control itchy scalp.

Boil 2 cups of water. Add 3 tbsp. of the herbs into the water and then remove it from the heat. Allow it to sit for about 30 to 45 minutes, then strain the mixture into a clean bowl.

Add about 2 oz. of the mixture into a clean, 8-oz. plastic bottle. (You can use an old shampoo bottle.) Add in the Castile soap. Close the bottle and shake well.

Chamomile Shampoo

Assemble the following ingredients:

1 tbsp. soap flakes
1 tsp. borax
1 oz. powdered chamomile flowers
1 pt. of hot water with 3 tbsp. white vinegar

Mix the ingredients together in a bowl and then place them into an 8 oz. bottle (such an old shampoo bottle).

Shake well. As an added bonus, chamomile will lighten your hair as well.

Deep Conditioner

Get the following ingredients:

2 cups mayonnaise
1/2 ripe avocado

Mix them together in a bowl until smooth and not too lumpy. Evenly smooth it into your hair from the ends to the roots.

Place a shower cap or plastic wrap over your head.

Leave it in for around 20 to 25 minutes to deep-condition your scalp, then rinse it out in the shower. If you have really long hair, you may need to double the recipe.

Egg Deep Conditioning Treatment

Get the following ingredients:

1 tbsp. baby oil
2 egg yolks
1 cup water

Beat the eggs yolks together well until frothy. Stir in the other ingredients and mix.

Go to the shower and massage it well into your scalp. Leave it on for five minutes, then rinse it well.
