A natural fairness cream, or skin lightener, can be made at home from readily accessible ingredients. This homemade alternative can be safer to use on dark skin patches or skin that spent too much time in the sun than its store-bought counterparts, many of which contain hydroquinone. According to Dr. Ben Kim (see Reference 3), hydroquinone-containing products may increase the incidence of cancer and issues with the adrenal glands.
Things You'll Need
Pour one cup water into a medium-size bowl.
Place a half-cup unpeeled almonds into the water. Allow the almonds to soak overnight.
Remove the almonds from the water and dry them with a paper towel.
Peel the almonds and place them into a coffee grinder or small food processor.
Grind the almonds for 30-second intervals until they become a fine paste.
Pour a quarter-cup almond paste, two tablespoons lemon juice, one teaspoon honey and one cup plain yogurt into a medium-size bowl.
Mix the ingredients together until all the ingredients are well-incorporated.
Apply the cream to any affected area on the body before bed.
