How to Make Coffee Body Scrub

By LeafTV Editor

Luxury spas and resorts around the world have long used coffee as a secret ingredient in body scrubs. The grounds help exfoliate old skin cells, while the caffeine can help minimize the appearance of cellulite and varicose veins. Coffee scrubs are usually too harsh for the complexion, but the rest of your body will love them.

How To Make Coffee Body Scrub

Adding Sea Salt and Oils

Start with 2 cups of coarsely ground coffee. Add 1/2 cup of sea salt or raw sugar. Mix in 3 tbsp. sweet almond oil, olive oil, jojoba oil, apricot kernel oil or any other light massage oil.

Add a few drops of vanilla or almond extract for additional scent.

After combining to make a coarse scrub, bring into the shower and rub onto wet skin.

Rinse off and follow with a mild body cleanser or soap.

Adding Brown Sugar and Oils

Mix 1 tbsp. freshly ground coffee with 1/4 cup brown sugar.

Coarsely grind 6 hazelnuts and add to the mixture.

Stir in 2 tsp. almond oil, 2 tsp. jojoba oil, 2 tsp. olive oil and a few drops of orange essential oil.

Mix the ingredients well and apply to the body while in the shower, avoiding the face and neck. Rinse and follow with a light cleansing soap.

Adding Avocado and Honey

Combine 1 cup freeze-dried coffee with 8 cups sea salt, pickling salt or kosher salt.

Peel and mash enough avocado to make 2 cups of pulp. Add to the salt and coffee, along with 1 cup light massage oil, such as sesame, sweet almond or jojoba.

Stir in 2 tbsp. vanilla extract and 2 tbsp. honey and combine well.

Smooth all over body in the shower, except the face and neck areas. Rinse well and follow with a gentle body cleanser.

Adding Carrots and Facial Clay

Grate 1/2 lb. fresh carrots and add 6 oz. of finely ground coffee.

Mix in 3 tbsp. spa facial clay, which can be found at beauty and cosmetic stores, and 1 tsp. water.

Stir mixture well, adding a few drops of mint, chocolate, vanilla, orange, lemon, lime or almond extract for scent.

In the shower, scrub the body with the mixture, avoiding the face and neck. Shower as usual with a gentle body cleanser.

Adding Yogurt

Measure 2 cups of coarsely ground coffee into a bowl and add 1/2 cup raw sugar or kosher salt.

Stir in 3 tbsp. yogurt and make a thick paste.

Stand under a hot shower to open the pores and apply the scrub mixture all over, except the face and neck. Rinse off and follow with usual shower routine.
